Molly Mae: Our New Addition

Last night we "adopted" a new family member, Molly Mae, a beagle. I have had the itch for a dog for about a year and a half now. Every time I would find one that I wanted something would fall through (usually on our part). But, the wait paid off. Yesterday morning I opened my email and had a faculty wide email from a faculty member explaining that his sister had found a beagle and was willing to give her away for free. I jumped on the idea (Greg came around). We went to meet her last night, and the whole family quickly fell in love. Apparently, she had been thrown out of a car on a country road and the lady we got Molly Mae from watched it all happen. Molly Mae was very lucky to have been found by such wonderful people who took such great care of her. Molly Mae did wonderful last night; whereas, I was up a lot checking on her to make sure she was okay. Stay tuned for the latest updates on the family adjustment to such a sweet dog.

New Days

We are definitely enjoying our new routines! Greg now takes the girls to school in the mornings, and according to the girls they sing a lot of High School Musical 3 songs in the car. I am sure shortly after dropping the girls off Greg turns the CD off and listens to ESPN radio. Greg is enjoying his new job and adjusting to a world with technology (email and chats).

Hey, Hey, Hey...Goodbye!

Goodbye Mid-America Clutch...Hello E.I. Sports. Greg's last day at Mid-America is now over, and Monday begins his new career. If I could have written a job description for Greg, it would not have been as perfect as this new job's. Time to celebrate!

Pick up your jaw...

Have you fainted, or are you still sitting in your seat! Yes the blog is finally being updated. Chasity has been twenty-one now since June, and other things have happened in our life. This fall has been extremely busy for us. Both Alicynn and Faith have been involved in soccer. I never realized that third grade soccer would be so overwhelming. Alicynn literally had either a soccer game or soccer practice 3-4 times per week. Many times Faith's practices would overlap with Alicynn's.
Greg has been busy with being a first year Cub football coach at Memorial. His team has not been extremely great with putting the numbers up on the scoreboard, but he has enjoyed the season. Saturday is his last game, and they actually will play on the Memorial football field for the first time the whole season. Greg has also taken a new job. Please pray for him and our family as he goes through this transition. I do not think I or anyone else could have written such a perfect job for him. He will be working for EI Sports on the Eastside (I guess it is time for us to move back to the Eastside now that we both work on the Eastside and the girls attend school on the Eastside). Greg will be selling sports equipment to schools. He will be in the Evansville, Mt. Vernon, North Posey, and Jasper area. He already has became more relaxed just knowing he will be out of Mid-America.
I on the other hand have been busy at school, but things are starting to calm down! I won't be grading again until the end of November as I have a student teacher this semester!!!
Back in August, the Delancy family (no not Greg and I) added a new addition. Crystal and Aaron welcomed Oliver to the family. He has had difficulty eating and a few other medical challenges, but Crystal and Aaron are doing really well adapting. Oliver is an absolutely adorable nephew.
Tina even made a trip up here back in September with her son Alex. We really enjoyed being able to spend time with Alex, oh and Tina too!

Chasity is 21!

On June 12th, Chasity celebrated her 21st birthday. My mom, her sisters, Greg, Alicynn, Faith, and I took her to Hacienda for dinner. She had two strawberry-n-orange margarittas and was a little tipsy. We had the server come out and sing to her and give her a sombrero. I can't believe she is already 21. She was born during the summer between my fourth and fifth grade school years. Don't do the math...I was 11 when she was born. It was like having another sister in the house...only she was fun because she was a baby, and I could show her off.

Young "Tiger Woods"

Alicynn and Faith began golfing lessons on Monday with Jenny Effinger (a teacher and golf coach at Memorial). The girls had so much fun and can't wait to do it again. Jenny taught them to pretend their hands were a grandfather clock...I think they are getting the idea of the arm movement. They even played ONE hole at Wesselmans.

"One small step for man, one giant leap for mankind"

Well, Alicynn had her tonsils and adenoids removed on Friday. She is such a trooper. All of the nurses commented that she acted so grown up for her age...not once did she complain. She took Peaches with her to the surgicare center. Peaches is her build a bear pig that has been through a lot with her. (Peaches was with her in the emergency room when she cut her foot on glass.) Peaches accompanied Alicynn into the surgery room, and she slept holding Peaches in recovery. Today she definitely was feeling better...she was doing things she knew better about doing. Her appetite is coming back...I thought she was going to eat us out of house and home!

I have finished typing and submitting my AP Literature and Composition Syllabus for approval by the College Board. Working on this has been a large task. The final product was 18 pages long. I should teach a college course now! I have never felt so relieved about a school project in all my life as when I hit the "submit" button on the computer tonight! Now, I just have to wait for approval.

Nine Years and Going Strong

Happy Anniversary to Greg and Me! We love our anniversary day. Today is our ninth anniversary. Tina was the first to acknowledge...good thing I maid her my maid of honor in the wedding! I think our anniversary should be a national holiday just like my birthday, but no one else will vote it in. Anyway, we are going to celebrate on Friday evening because Alicynn has her first softball game tonight! She has become a busy little girl with two sports this spring, soccer and softball.

So Many New Things

On Saturday, Faith began to learn to ride a bike without training wheels (actually she has never had training wheels). She can ride in the grass from one end of the yard to the other. She is very proud of herself. Faith has been determined to do it since last fall.
Alicynn, yesterday, made her First Holy Communion. She looked beautiful and was really excited. Greg and I hosted a celebration party for her in my mom's backyard. Everyone seemed to enjoy themselves, and we were so happy that the rain held off. It did get chilly after the sun went down!
I took Alicynn to the Ear, Nose, and Throat doctor today. She will be having her tonsils out. Alicynn has requested not to know when the procedure will take place, so she doesn't worry about it. I think this is a really great idea. Tina actually gave her the idea.

Silence...

Yes, I have lost my voice completely. The girls are happy because they can't "hear" me when they get in trouble. Greg is happy because I can't ramble on and on for hours at him. Our house is pretty quiet right now! I may go crazy by the time my voice comes back. But, just wait...when it returns I WILL have a lot to say.

Coach Delancy

I thought for sure Greg would post his good news. I waited for a week, and since he has not shared it, I will! Greg has been named Memorial Head Cub Football Coach. He is really excited...I would say giddy, but he would not like that very much. Greg has really worked hard to earn this title. Each year he adds more experience and eventually his dream of being a head coach of a bigger program will become true. Alicynn and Faith want to be his head water girls for the team!

Earthquake

So, this morning I couldn't sleep! I was seriously awake and working on the computer at 3:30 this morning. I was wide awake and could not even convince myself to go back to sleep. Around 4:30a.m., I heard a really loud rumble and then shaking. I was in disbelief at first! Faith, Alicynn and Greg were all in the hallway at the same time. We all went into the bathroom! I looked at Greg and asked him if that was what I thought it was and he said yep. The girls did not ask many questions because they were still half asleep! Everyone, but me, was able to go back to sleep. I have this crazy love for watching the news during things like this. Greg gets so sick of it...he was probably happy he went back to bed.
Even after being up so early, I ran behind. On Fridays I always stop to get donuts for everyone at my mom's house (since she runs the grandchildren school bus)! Everyone was at the Donut Bank. The lady waiting on me said about 10 minutes after the earthquake people must have thought about donuts hopped in their car to buy them and never stopped coming.
Have a great day and don't shake, rattle and roll too much!

Those of you reading not close enough to feel the earthquake, it registered 5.2!

Beautiful Day!

Well, another week at hand. This weekend was absolutely beautiful! Faith played outside all day yesterday and was not happy when it was time to come in. However, I was able to bribe her with the idea of playing in the bathtub. She pretended she was swimming (aren't we all!) Alicynn's tonsils are swollen again! She has been to the doctor four times in the last eight weeks. We have for sure been referred to the ear, nose and throat doctor (our family doctor forgot to place the referral the last visit). We are expecting Alicynn to have her tonsils and anodes out. I am hoping for after school is out, but we will see. Her first communion is coming up, and soccer season...but health comes first!

It took the Delancy household a week to get back into the swing of things after our wonderful spring break. We had a wonderful time visiting Tina, the ocean and of course Disney World. However, the weather here has been beautiful the last two days which is wonderful. The flowers and trees are blooming. I noticed yellow dandelions in the grass this morning...definite sign of spring!

The Happiest Place on Earth

Yesterday was incredible. Our children (and my niece Alyssa) thought we were headed to the Kennedy Space Center! Never did they seem excited about the idea, but of course had no say in the matter! So, they loaded up in the car for the ride and put on the sitcom Reba on the portable DVD player and literally watched it the whole way. When we finally arrived to the entrance of the Disney highways, I asked them to look up and read the signs. First, the girls were confused, then shocked, then screamed. The whole family had an awesome day. We met princesses, Minnie Mouse, etc, and road the tea cups, Dumbo, It's a Small World and so on. We arrived at the park at 10:30 A.M. and did not leave until Tinkerbell flew from the Cinderella's castle and watched the final parade of the day. It was 12:15 when we left...almost FOURTEEN hours later (about the length of our drive to Florida). We will post pictures when we get home (forgot the cords for the camera). Greg and I can't explain the excitement of the girls. It was more than we had expected...it truly is the happiest place on Earth!!! Today we are headed to the beach...it is beautiful outside today!

Fifteen Hours Later

We ARE in Florida..after fifteen hours of traveling our first stop was the beach. Faith would not believe we were in Florida until she saw the beach! The sun had already set, but we didn't care. We took off our shoes and socks and walked on the sand. The tide was coming in so the water frequently brushed up against our feet. It was cold but we didn't care. The fresh breeze was so refreshing after the long ride.
We pulled out of our drive at 4:09 this morning. Faith was ready to color and to watch tv, but we talked her into sleeping for a little bit. The girls were great for most of the ride..they had a couple of moments but who wouldn't be cramped in the back of a car?!
We never paid more than $3.11 for gas, and at one point was able to get 29 miles to the gallon. We actually paid less than we expected to get down here...that rarely happens.
The weather is suppose to be cold tomorrow. Tonight is so suppose to set a record low...freezing! The high tomorrow 58! I thought we left that kind of weather; however, the rest of the week is suppose to be in the 80s.
Until next time...

GIDDY!!!!!!

We are getting GIDDY here at the Delancy house...excited about our trip to Florida. We are leaving Monday morning at 4A.M. Greg is driving which means the girls and I will be fast asleep for the first several hours of our trip. I have most of the packing finished!!! Saturday we are having Easter at my mom's house. Grandpa and Butch are coming in today for the Easter weekend. Then, Sunday off we go to Mt. Vernon to celebrate Easter at Tiffany's house. I am working on making Jaycee a purse for Easter. Wow...how creative I have become. I posted the front and backsides of the sundress I made for Alicynn and the little top I made for Faith. Earlier this week, as a family, we made Alicynn's First Communion Banner. The girls painted the letters to our last name while Greg painted the grapes and cut out the cross. I worked on the chalice and the gluing. Alicynn was excited to paint the bread and draw the cross on it. We had fun doing it. It was good we were off on Wednesday because the girls didn't get to bed until 9:30...two hours past their bed time.

To all Have a very HAPPY and BLESSED Easter!

Here goes nothing!!!

I guess this is my official first blog. Life is good. Can't wait to get to Florida! I hope to golf at least once. Maybe I will catch up on some football studying! Only 5 months left until the season starts. (But who's counting?) I know this is the most interesting blog you have read! I will talk to you all soon! Greg ( The Head of the Delancy House) Hee Hee Hee!!!

Oh Rainy Day!

Wow...it is raining today! Yesterday afternoon was beautiful, so I took the girls outside for a quick pic in the matching green and white shirts. (They dearly love when I put matching clothes on them...well Faith actually does like it...Alicynn not so much.) This morning it was pouring when I woke up it was pouring outside. Today would have been a great day to spleep in. Faith really didn't want to wake up. She wanted me to come and pick her up later for school.

Great news...I have now finished a sundress for both Alicynn and Faith and a cute little tank top for Faith in sewing class. Sewing is awesome. I really enjoy it--it is a great stress reliever. Jamie and I last night were the only two students in class which was great. Basically, we had paid a group rate for individual lessons last night...I could go for that every night!

Something New!

Here I go...jumping on the bandwagon. Many of my friends (many who are probably reading) have started to blog. Perhaps this will be easier way for me to keep friends and family posted. Greg, the girls, and I are constantly on the go. I do not know how are children stay so sane with our crazy lifestyle. The girls are getting so big! Alicynn is eight years old. We are getting excited about her First Communion at the end of April. Her dress and shoes have been purchased! We are just waiting on the dress to come in. Faith is five and very animated. The girls are fun and you never know what to expect out of them (but definately have learned to fight with each other). Greg, the girls and I are counting down for Monday. We are headed to Florida for spring break to visit Tina, Evan and baby Alex!
